Our Panoramic Dental X-Ray Unit won the cut-sheet Multi-Part Enclosure award at the Annual Thermoforming Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 

The OEM has introduced an entry level panoramic dental X-Ray machine that incorporates higher end motor control. As with most multiple part projects, pressure-forming offered low tooling costs and faster speed to market than injection molding.  There are a total of 9 parts on the analog X-Ray and 12 parts on the digital X-Ray versions of this product.  All parts are pressure formed into machined aluminum water-cooled molds that are textured. The texturing of the molds allows for a very consistent part finish across all parts.  And of course the pressure-forming process eliminates all evidence of sink marks, knit lines, and gates marks that are typically associated with injection molding.  The clean part to part fit up is accomplished with undercuts in the molds.  As is typical with undercuts in most quality pressure-formed parts they are pneumatically articulated with solenoids tied into the digital programming logic of the forming machines.  Due to the products elliptical design theme the undercuts are broken up into multiple sections for each side of the parts.
